Advertising Statewide Guidelines Standards of Acceptance
Though most newspapers are cooperative and easy to work with, they will not accept ads if they appear to
be false, misleading, fraudulent, libelous,
defamatory, illegal, or in poor taste.

Advertising will be rejected if it discriminates
on the basis of age, race, religion, sex, etc.

Business opportunity and investment ads
must indicate the type of business to be
invested in and the amount of the
investment. All franchise offerings must be
registered with the State.

Work at home ads, such as “stuffing
envelopes,” are not accepted. Also, work at home-ads must either include telephone number or complete address, not PO boxes.

Help wanted ads for sales positions must not
appear to offer work on a salary basis when it
is on commission.

Weight control food supplements and
appetite suppressants must be registered
with the FDA.

Loan, credit card, or mortgage ads must be from an established, bonafide, licensed lending
institution.

No 900 number ads will be
accepted.

No sex, psychic line, talk line, or personal ads will be
accepted.
National Advertising Agency reserves the right to edit all ad copy submitted and reject those ads which are not in compliance with state and/or federal regulations.
